The summer we painted the house

I learned again that physical work,
while making the body ache,
can soothe the mind and soul.

In this world, you need help.
Amazingly, some people insist to help,
expecting nothing in return.
And being the recipient of goodness
doesn't necessarily hurt or put you in debt.

There are skills, tools and tricks
peculiar to any profession.
They take time and experience to acquire.

In this life, there are many things to learn.
Like the inner humor and knowledge
the worker who knows what's going on
must feel over the person
who's merely paying the bill.

There is no job too big.
Take one board at a time, if you have to.
Sometimes, all you have to do is ask.
How long you're able to go on.
Camaraderie from working
alongside people.

Painting a house can be satisfying.
At first, the old color dominates.
Then, the new one takes over,
revealing what's been accomplished.

When you're done,
everyone can see it.
