The next time around, I'll...

...Master the concepts of algebra.

...Commit to golf or pitching a baseball, rather than crippling myself in football.

...Play a musical instrument. The piano would be nice, but you can take a guitar or harmonica with you.

...Have the guts to be more honest and direct with my dad, bosses and other "superiors." Sort of like how my daughters are.

...Look into a trade. Maybe being a carpenter or mechanic.

...Take at least two years after high school to raise hell without paying tuition. Figure out what I want to do. Or not want to do.

...Be more kind and sensitive to others. You and I know who you are, and I apologize.

...Make sure I go to a bullfight when I'm in Spain.

...Figure out how to juggle and yodel.

...Not plant sod.

...Stay in touch with true friends I made while growing up.

...Train a big, gentle dog well enough to be a constant companion.

...Make time to go to funerals I didn't think I had time for. Sorry for that, too.

...Learn how to sketch and paint pictures.

...Retain the exuberance, passion and idealism that I had in junior high and early high school. The time that I couldn't wait to be over and for which I envy youth now, regardless of pimples.

...Not take myself so seriously.

...Love unconditionally.
