BUSINESS SAMPLES
I wrote the copy for the following projects. If you would like to see the originals or receive text files of the writing, please contact me at jed@jedblock.com and specify which projects interest you.
I've been the primary reporter/photographer for the
Good-Humor Breyers TIMES newspaper since its inception in September 1994. The publication links the company's seven plants and sales offices across the country
.
This corporate brochure describes what sets N&M Transfer Co. apart from other trucking companies.
The Celebration ® line of
Wausau Papers is the subject of this paper sample.
Newsletters, annual reports, letters and news releases are among the projects I've written for the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region. Below is a viewpoint radio script.
Viewpoint

EVER FIND YOURSELF AT A LOSS ABOUT WHAT GIFT TO GET YOUR PARENTS? WHAT DO THEY REALLY NEED?

HOW ABOUT GIVING MOM AND DAD A GIFT THAT WILL KEEP ON GIVING? CONSIDER SETTING UP A PERPETUAL ENDOWMENT FUND THROUGH YOUR COMMUNITY FOUNDATION. IT COULD BEAR YOUR PARENTS’ NAMES AND BENEFIT THEIR FAVORITE CAUSE OR CHARITY.

IT WOULD BE SOMETHING THAT YOU COULD DO WITH YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS. EVEN YOUR CHILDREN COULD GET INVOLVED AND LEARN ABOUT GIVING.

THE FUND WOULD BE THERE TO ADD TO AT EACH BIRTHDAY, ANNIVERSARY, CHRISTMAS, OR MOTHER’S AND FATHER’S DAY WHEN YOU WERE AGAIN WRACKING YOUR BRAIN FOR A MEANINGFUL GIFT. AND EACH TIME YOU HONORED YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER, SOMEONE IN NEED WOULD BENEFIT.

...JUST A THOUGHT FROM A SON -- AND A PARENT -- WHO’S GIVEN
-- AND RECEIVED -- MORE THAN ONE UNNEEDED NECKTIE. I’M LARRY KATH, PRESIDENT OF THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR THE FOX VALLEY REGION, AND THAT’S A FOX CITIES VIEWPOINT.

Brilliance was the theme of a
Wausau Papers sample booklet which demonstrated applications for the Royal Brilliant White line of fine paper.
NOVA Counseling Services specializes in recovering lives by helping people heal from alcohol and other drug dependencies.
I've written human interest stories about people whose lives have been changed by technical surgical procedures performed by K.S. Paul, MD of Valley Neuro/
Microneurosurgery
.
If you wonder why Wausau Papers would call this sample "Pedaling Identities," read the copy below.
PEDALING IDENTITIES

Sometimes you just pedal,to be out, away, among.
Other times, you train, for a grade that needs scaling.
Or a destination beckons.

It's all part of the journey. A progression. A process.
To enjoy. To grow with.

Wausau Papers presents Pedaling Identities -- a progressive
demonstration involving one bicycle company's image and logo.
Tour the collection of letterhead, envelopes, and business cards.
Each one demonstrates evolving ideas and techniques,
watermarked to provide prestigious expression
for any identity, stationery or message.

When you have the extraordinaryto communicate, make
Royal Bond part of the creation. Choose 92 brightness
white, natural colors, smooth and light cockle finishes. The
paper is available in 20 lb. and 24 lb. writing with matching 80 lb. cover.

Premium performance. Exceptional value. Royal Bond.
When the next leg of your journey calls for a higher gear.

•••

Beginnings. Pushing off in the right gear
has a distinctive bearing on the outcome.

(Printed with one color on Natural 24 lb. writing, the image
commences to communicate with purposeful understatement.)

•••

As the journey unfolds, the road takes over.
Rolling beneath and ahead, it carries you on, transporting you.

(Two colors achieve movement in a direction toward sophistication
on a White 20 lb. writing, Light Cockle Finish.

•••

Progression. Onward, forward, upward.
Hitting a rhythm, an almost-easy flow.

(Two colors and thermography paint a radical scheme of hues
and a rough tactile surface, contrasted against a smooth white canvas.)

•••

Bursting, the summit scaled, you attain the goal.
For now.

(Four-color process aids the ascent. Holograph foil takes you even higher,
transcending the peak.)
